Also causes ocular irritation if used on the eyelid or near the eye. Getting less impressed by the minute....
I wish I dared to come over and check out the rash. BC gets one every now and again but mostly around the eye. His pediatrician calls it boy crud also. No prescription, ever. It is NOT Eczema, at all. Over the counter antibiotic ointment (Neosporin?) does the trick within a couple of days. The doc’s you go to are the ones that said what he gets and what GC1 had are some form of Eczema but, not Eczema lol. If you can, and he will let you lol, take a pic and email it to me. I can then tell you if it is the same. I have a few things to do in the morning. If I get them done early I can maybe pop over and check it out. Not that I am dying to see him or anything lol. I will try and give you a call while I am out and about to let you know.
Good advice from justme, Kate, but the lad could also try a mild, over the counter hydrocortisone cream. By mild, I mean 0.5% or thereabouts. I get a winter “like eczema” rash on my face, and the hydrocortisone clears it up ever so nicely. Yes, it is a steroid, but a very, very, very mild one, so no reason to panic. Would an ex-nurse give you risky advice?
J - If you can’t get over tomorrow, I’ll take a pic. Part of me thinks it’s aggravated by stress. I used to have something like that around my nose—it would flare up just before exams. I don’t think I ever treated it with anything, though.
Eleanor—I was at the drugstore today perusing the over-the-counter products, but couldn’t decide between a hydrocortisone ointment and something the pharmacist suggested—Betadine skin cleanser followed by a thin smear of vitamin E.
I think I’ll go back and get the hydrocortisone ointment. It can’t hurt and might just work. But the Betadine might not be a bad back-up as a bacterial wash.
Yes thats it, hydrocortisone ointment. I use either one when he has a break out. I can’t remember if one works better/faster than the other though. Give you a call later today.

Er, if the rash is located in part at one corner of his mouth, how is he supposed to avoid ingesting part of the salve?
