Recreating

Much earlier this evening, I made a pot of coffee and while it brewed, I washed out the stainless steel thermos and filled it with hot water to warm up. When the coffee was done, my mind was a million miles away. I removed the stainless steel carafe from the coffee maker and somehow or another my mind jumped ahead to taking the lid off the thermos and pouring out the hot water so I could pour the hot coffee into it. The only problem was, I missed a step in there and poured the coffee down the drain instead.

So, bearing in mind that my brain was apparently mush, I sat down at the computer and decided to just play. Nothing dangerous. One of my favorite mindless activities is decorating my ‘puter.

And this is what I ended up with.

Below is my new Hogwart desk top with a slick Slytherin clock that really works—in a Slytherin sort of way. And the appropriate Hogwart wallpaper. (The clock is only functional if you have Stardock’s Object Desktop suite of programs.)

Below I have kind of an orange thing going on. I snagged a total environment skin called Jarilo by one of my favorite designers. It works with the Window Blinds portion of Stardock’s Object Desktop suite. (My Firefox browser is rolled up like a window blind in the previous photo...) One of my all time favorite apps.

The displayed web page belongs to WBGO in Newark, New Jersey. They’re a public radio station specializing in jazz. Yum! The spate of orange at the top of the screen is my collapsible skinned winamp player. Yum yum!

Below is a detail of a drop down menu from the bar that goes across the top of my screen. This feature is included in the Object Desktop suite. The drop down keeps my weather widget, memory and CPU widgets, and a mail widget tucked out of the way until I want them. I haven’t added too much else to the bar yet. Just the date/time, my documents folder, some rss feeds, and a folder containing shortcuts to my most used apps.

That’s about it so far. I didn’t blow anything up or cause any damage. I still can’t believe I poured my freshly brewed coffee down the drain!
