Well, it finally stopped, sorta. A little bit of sleet is spitting down on us now...on top of the 14 inches of snow we got today. Stings a lot when the wind hurls it into your face.
I just came in from shoveling the driveway. I thought I was never going to get to the end of it. With every shovelful it felt as if the driveway had grown an extra foot.
Well...it had. I had to shovel an extra 6 feet to get to the road where the snow plow driver had conservatively figured the edge of the street ended. That last six feet was a killer. Way heavy snow.
I have a feeling that the driveway will be drifted full by morning and then my heart will break.
Wife tried to take a trip yesterday, only to get caught in the plow-droppings at the end of the drive. I came home to dig the car out.
What was cool, and I’m being serious here… was the way the snow and ice was perfectly layered. two inches of snow on the bottom, a 1.5 inch layer of ice, then another inch or so of snow. It was easy to take apart with the ice breaker, but a literal pain to shovel.
Car rescued, worked from home, glad that’s over.
Ya is was interesting watching the EMT’s carry E through a snow bank up to our hips, with the whipping icy snow blowing in our face. Ya, um, that was my valentines gift lol.
He is fine, he is going to out live me I am sure! Sorry I didn’t call you. Way late when I got home and way to early to call you yet miss sleepy
I will give you a call this afternoon. Boy between the other J and me you don’t have a boring life do ya!
Dear gawd, it just took me an hour to clean off my car. Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike the snow? And after this last trip to the ER, this will be forever my job to do. CALIFORNIA here we come! That tune is/was going through my head as I cleaned of the car lol. I don’t care if I have to sell one of the kids. We are soooooooooo moving back. Now I must defrost in the shower and head off. Burn a nice big fire for me will ya.
Good lord, what a horrible day for you and E, J. Keep that man away from snow shovels. That was heavy snow. I dread the thought of you moving back to California, but I certainly understand why it would be better for you both. We’ll catch up later today, but I’m glad he’s doing okay.
Dave, I’m not sure why exactly, but my snow plow driver did a little back up and scooped out the snow plow droppings from the end of my driveway this morning. Maybe he took a little pity on me when he saw me still shoveling snow. That was very nice of him and very much appreciated. The snow has a hard layer on top now. Probably like yours was and I had to shovel it in layers, too.
I had to do a major excavation on the deck this morning so I could get the back door open. It had a huge drift smack up against it and there was no opening the door. Poor Terry had to do her business in the driveway this morning and neither one of us liked that very much. Now she can go out in the back yard and walk around on top of the snow without breaking through. I think she was disappointed that she couldn’t play in it.

E called a bit ago, they are closing up and he will be home in about a half hour or so. I can’t even believe they opened today lol. Unfortunately GC1 has to work until 5PM. Remind me to never get a job in a place that is open 365 days a year! Poor kid. BC is just dying to go outside but, it’s sooooo bad out there right now, he can’t convince his sister to go out and play.
