Well there is no question here lol. At least the kids will have something to do over vacation! If they once tell me they are bored, they are going to find themselves face first in a foot of snow! They, along with you, have been praying to the weather gods for this since November lol.
Of course like an idiot I waited to go grocery shopping (usually I go on Sat. but I didn’t want to deal with the usual Sat. crowd this week) until today. Now everyone is going to be in a panic (like no one has ever seen snow in NE for pete’s sake) buying up the store lol. I guess its my own dang fault for not paying attention to the weather, or believing that we might actually get snow this year????
Bring in lost of wood today and stay warm.
Here in Southeastern Pennsylvania, we have a weather report that doesn’t mean much. We have had a dusting of snow, and grey skies so far.
Who knows if we’ll get any more.
Columbus OH: Not sure what the snowfall is right now, but it’s actually snowing sideways out the office window. That’s usually not a good thing.
A little slick getting in this morning, but not too bad. Four wheel drive helps. E doesn’t have school today, which she’s a bit upset about, but at least home is warm. Suppose I should bring in some of that wood when I get home and see if it will burn today.
Hm. Fire in the fireplace, crock-pot chili, and a blanket of snow, early release from work (most likely)... Life’s just not that bad out here.
The thought occurred to me some time back, dk, that perhaps the gov’t takes climate change more seriously than they let on. Even if the seas rise only a couple of inches, New Orleans will be under water. It seems that there is not anything that we will be able to do at this point to forestall that eventuality. Even if we went to zero carbon emissions right now, the warming would still continue for a space of time. It is frightening. At the rate we are going, my house will be beach front in another generation.
J- is winter break this week or next week? I’m definitely out of that loop these days. I don’t know how long any snow we get will stick around. Looks like the January thaw will arrive a bit late, but we’re supposed to almost reach the 50s next week. Sheesh.
Well, Cassie, I hope the weather cooperates for you whichever way you want it to go. Weather forecasts are still a little iffy, aren’t they?
Wheeee, Dave. You’re getting snow! Get a fire going and enjoy! I’m prepared for either snow or ice. I have so much wood in the house right now, that I’m tripping over it. But I need it dry. Funny thing though...last night I started up a fire and the rush of air up the chimney was so strong that I could hardly hold the stove door open. I haven’t seen that in a few days. I had a roaring fire in a matter of minutes. The atmospheric pattern we’d had, for the past several days, definitely broke last night.
Update: They decided not to close the office despite level 2 snow conditions, so I was an hour late today, having spent the time pounding about an inch of ice off my car this morning. My hammer is on my desk with me at the moment. I’m just waiting for my boss to come in and ask, “What’s that for?”, just so I can respond with, “It’s a car door opener.”
Well, that’s a rip. I’m sorry you had to crack your way into your car this morning. It would have been a very good day to stay put. But I think if your boss asks you what the hammer is for, you should just give an evil grin. ;)
Snowing like mad here. They keep telling us it’s going to sleet, then rain in an hour or two, but it’s only 16 degrees out. We’ll see what happens next. I might have to break out my hammer, too. But everything is closed around here, no school, and a snow emergency declared. Visibility is almost zero. It’s fun watching it, but I sure as heck wouldn’t like having to drive in it.

And, it will only get worse. My life long (well, nearly 20 year dream) has been to retire one day to New Orleans, where I went to Grad School and fell in love with the place. Katrina shook that notion, and Al Gore’s documentary pretty much shattered it. I’m in a funk over it, personally, but also for the scary future that portends for the millions (billions?) of costal dwellers in our country and around the world. Be safe!
