True, cassie. The do-not-call registry has helped quite a bit, but there are still plenty of calls from companies wanting us to take “surveys.” Most annoying.
Also, what’s up with all the stores wanting your phone number when you check out now? I run into this all the time and just shake my head “no” when they ask. They can’t force me to give my number, and I know exactly why they want it.
If the calls thin out just by half that would be a great improvement. A couple more calls came in after I posted, so grand total for the day was 13. That goes well beyond annoying.
I thought that ignoring them and never answering might gradually discourage the calls. But noooo. If you don’t answer, they call repeatedly. Every damned day. Often more than once or even twice a day. Always Travel called four times yesterday. That’s harassment in my opinion.
Best Buy is the only one I’ve encountered who demands a phone number at checkout. Refusing to give it really confuses them.
You may not find relief with the DNC list - these are probably “market research” firms, which are exempt from the Do Not Call laws. They brand themselves this way precisely because they can keep calling you.

Good luck with that. We’re registered, and still get some phone calls, probably not as many. But some phoning groups have found ways around that do not call list. I think it’s non-profit organizations, and don’t we all know that there are plenty of them around.
