Hi Deb. Thanks. Hope the tvlessness test works, too. It’s just getting used to the idea that I wouldn’t be able to turn it on if I wanted to. But then I do recall, way back in the dark pre-cable ages while I was growing up, that we only had ONE channel on the television—CBS—and life still managed to have a rich and varied texture. I think our brains have been completely taken over by the PR bots of want and must have.
We have a decent vhs/dvd collection. I’ve gotten to the point that if it’s worth seeing, it’s worth seeing more than once. Some of my kids favorite videos are old ones.... Wonder Woman, The Lucy Show, Scooby Doo.
I am very grateful not to have the “I want” syndrome for Christmas as well.
We had 3 stations growing up, CBS, NBC, and ABC. And I think I’d almost be happy with them again.

As for tv, the kids and I have been without rabbit ears or cable since the summer of 1999. I don’t miss it a great deal. (Although Extreme Home Make-Over is way good when I catch it elsewhere!) The internet provides my news and an occasional newspaper gives me something to “touch.”
I’m with you on the ala carte option. I’d love to be able to pay $20 and chose 8-10 non-premium stations. You know, HGTV, ABC, NBC, DIY, Food tv, Cartoon network.
Good luck on your tvlessness test.
