Cleaning day

What a lovely day. Well, not so much the sunshine part, since there isn’t any, but it’s so warm outside. I threw the windows and doors wide open this morning to let all the fresh warm air in. We’re already at 62 degrees and I’m sure it’ll be even warmer by day’s end. We’ll all enjoy it while we can. I think there’s a snow storm coming on Monday or Tuesday.

Today is clean the house day. As was yesterday. I’ve been missing in action here on the blog. Sorry about that. But it’s time for winter cleaning in preparation for the holidays. The Spic N Span soaked rags have nearly grown roots into my fingers and we’ve become one. There is something about a teeny tiny house that seems to generate more dirt than a larger house. I don’t ever remember having to work so hard at keeping a house clean before.

Terry is a nervous wreck today. She’s scared to death of The Mop. From my vantage point, it doesn’t look particularly scary, but whenever she sees it come out of the basement stairwell, she turns into a quivering mass of terror. In an effort to be sympathetic, I sent her outside. Then she stood at the back door watching me wield The Mop, trembling out there instead of in the house. Why? I have no idea. Even the vacuum cleaner doesn’t elicit that reaction from her.

Abbie, on the other hand, thinks The Mop is huge fun. It has all those strings that fly in all directions. Like a great big bug. They’re fun to chase.

Well, back to it for a while.

Oh my gosh, a pair of Winter Wrens just stopped by on the deck to pick up a couple of pieces of bread I had put out on the railing. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen them here. How utterly delightful.
