A trip to Staples

After stained glass class tonight, my to-do list said that I needed to swing by Staples to pick up a new mouse pad. I’d worn my last one right out and while a piece of paper kind of worked with my optical mouse—if I taped it to my desk, it wasn’t exactly aesthetic.

Before I reached the store, I was stern with myself. No purchases other than the mouse pad. It’s a dangerous store filled with wondrous curiosities and PENS. Like I need another pen.

In the main, I was pretty well behaved. I found an attractive little mouse pad. And 3 new cheapo gel pens in pretty colors. And a cool new Logitech mouse, but I put that back. Instead I grabbed a USB LED desk lamp. Like this one:

Staples has their Christmas displays up already and this little lamp was among the offerings. (They aren’t posted on Staples’ website yet.)

So now that I have it home and plugged in to the computer, I wanna tell you it’s a sweet little thing. I don’t need the room lights on in the evenings when I’m parked at the computer. But I do need to see the keyboard and what I’m writing when I take notes or am editing something. This lamp has 5 bright LED bulbs in it (with an on/off switch) and it provides plenty of light to see what I’m doing without illuminating the entire room. The light is easy on my eyes, too.

I think I’ll go back and get a couple more for stocking stuffers. Betcha I know a couple of college lads who would get some good use out of them.
