Huh. I don’t have a copy on hand, but I’ll take a look when I’m at the library tomorrow. Might even offer some additional inspiration.
Instead of the mutant kohlrabi tree, I might be able to say it’s really supposed to be a Tolkien tree. Yeah!
Be sure it’s the Tolkien illustrations; there are tons of artists who’ve done work for the calendars, as I learned when I was looking for a link earlier.
Tolkien was a linguistics man, not an artist, so he drew very representational trees. I don’t remember whether “The Hobbit” had illustrations or not, but that’s what your tree reminded me of. Or maybe the Old Forest in the early pages of “Fellowship.”
Isn’t it heretical to admit you don’t have a copy of LOTR? (I speak as one who owns two, one in paperback and one the deluxe hardbound with slipcase).
oh pretty! You could call it your precious! Hehe, ya bad joke! I think I need more coffee. Or it could be that I am drinking Jack Daniels coffee? Dang I hate when I forget to buy regular coffee lol.
Linkmeister, there used to be a boxed set of Tolkien books in the house, but they seem to have vanished about the same time the lad left home. Actually, though, I think they had the Alan Lee illustrations. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Tolkien’s illustrations.
Um...J...what the heck is Jack Daniels coffee? Or shouldn’t I ask???
My precioussssss… I like that.
Just JD flavored lol. Came home with GC2 from TN this summer.
Does Jack Daniels flavored coffee really taste like Jack Daniels? Huh. I’d never have thought of that. That wouldn’t be my first choice for the first cuppa in the morning, either.

Oh, I don’t know. Have you got a copy of LOTR with Tolkien’s illustrations? Take a look and see if you don’t see a resemblance.
