Sheesh, I can’t tear myself away from the tube. MSNBC said Webb just declared victory. Like McCaskill did. She was roundly criticized by the Fox TV talking heads (naturally) who said she broke proper election etiquette by not waiting for her opponent to concede. I think the Dems are learning. Don’t wait for permission...take it and make your opponent do the heavy lifting.
And MT may just pull it off. It’s not a highly populated state. With more than 80% of the vote counted, I can’t see Burns making up the difference now.
Could the Dems actually be taking the Senate, too? OMG. Of course...there is Lieberman to sour things. Being the opportunist that he is, who will he cozy up to now? Bet he wasn’t planning on this.
Besides Henry Waxman, you just *know* that John Conyers has been waiting for this moment, too. He won’t have to hold his hearings in a closet anymore, either.
Bush and Cheney are either panicking tonight or already have the shredders clocking ninety miles an hour. Can’t wait to hear what Dubya has to say at his press conference tomorrow. Seems like there are an awful lot of people in these United States who just voted for the terrorists—according to Dubya’s rhetoric this week. He looks pretty foolish now.
so much to say, so little time!! And now we have the Senate too!! I was singing Happy Days are here again all day yesterday--and I work for a Republican--I have to admit I might have been more than a little obnoxious!! ;)
You know I really like Nancy Pelosi, I really, really do. Have right along, but through the last couple of days my approval rating has gone even higher. She and Bush will do just fine. She is used to bringing up kids--hell anyone who can bring up 5 of them can do most anything so he should be easy!!
Sent you Maureen Dowd’s column from the NY Times this morning on Rummy’s departure. Most excellent!!
Oh damn, have to go get ready for work. Happy Days are here again, lah, lah, lah, lah.....................
Oh my, Maureen Dowd’s piece was delicious. An ashen Rummy, indeed.
And yes, I think Nancy Pelosi will be just fine. She’s not a novice by any means.
Isn’t it strange that we’re cheering over the return of The Consigliere? The neo-con gang is apparently being replaced with the Iran-Contra gang and that’s such a huge step forward that I can’t even find a credible reason to object to it. They’ll probably keep Cheney muzzled and locked in his bunker, too.
I have a hunch that the Bush family Thanksgiving will be a working holiday this year with an interesting assortment of past leading lights in attendance. They’ve got a lot of work to do and I surely hope they can pull it off.

Henry Waxman with subpoena power at Government Reform. Can you say “War Profiteering hearings?”
And we may yet get the Senate, if MT holds and the margin in VA remains at 11,000 votes.
As my sainted grandmother used to say, “Me oh my and a custard pie.”
