Insect murderer!! Seriously though, I’m sure there will others. It’s sort of like around our house: the rats come, they get killed, others will follow.
I didn’t turn the hall light on going up, so I didn’t see him crawling on the floor. I turned the hall light on after I came out of the bathroom to see if I could find him. He was usually easily found out there quite close to the bathroom someplace, though I’d never seen him crawling around on the floor before. It was definitely me. He was freshly squashed. Abbie would have just eaten him. She tried to catch him a couple of times and I had to rescue him.
That’s probably about it for our spiders this year, Alan. Except for the daddy long legs who are house spiders all year ‘round. The rest mostly die off or just disappear in the late fall or early winter. In the spring, the various hatchlings start the process all over again.
Are you sure that was it? Without checking the older posts, wasn’t there also a female over at one time or another? See ...
Wink, wink, nudge, nudge ... say no more.
LOL! The female vanished from the scene a couple of weeks ago, never to be seen again. I suspect that Abbie ate her and the chase may have had something to do with her sudden panic attack over the bathtub situation. I think she may have gotten bonked on the nose with a falling shampoo bottle in her attempts to leap around in the tub. It was sitting in the bottom of the tub and Abbie’s nose was very tender for a couple of days. No female spider after that.
My place is just so utterly boring compared to yours.
I’d like to think the female escaped, giving birth to new generations of potential house guests. Just wait and see. Do study future visitors if there’s any likeness to L’il Fella.
He might be back ... with a vengeance, so to say. ;)
With these spiders, mama doesn’t have to be around to nurture the hatchlings. If L’il Fella and she did the deed, we’ll find out in the spring. I’m thinking that a couple hundred of L’il Fella’s children cruising the walls might be pushing my limits a bit.
