More drama

My bathroom seems to be the epicenter of drama in my house lately. I don’t know what’s going on in that room, but something new and different happened there.

Last evening before class, Abbie and I trotted up to the bathroom as we have hundreds of times before. She usually sits on the corner of the bathroom vanity and waits while I take a shower. Last evening didn’t seem to be any different initially.

But the moment I disappeared behind the shower curtain, all hell broke loose. Abbie let out blood curdling cat screams of the kind I’ve only heard in the car on the way to the vet’s office. Only, this time, magnified by about 10. Absolute panicked cat screams. And she ricocheted off the walls, to boot.

As soon as I turned the water off and opened the shower curtain, she stopped. I let her out of the bathroom and jumped back in the shower. This time, the cat screams issued forth from the other side of the bathroom door and she threw herself against the door with purpose.

It was probably the shortest shower of my life. It was hideous to listen to.

I noticed, also, after I returned from class, she was like sticking plaster. She wanted to sit on my lap, which she usually doesn’t do. She ordinarily wants to be close, but not sitting on me. And after I retired for the night, she curled up next to me with her body practically merged with mine. She didn’t seem to be nervous or worried about anything, but she obviously needed to be as physically close to me as possible.

There has to be a reason for this sudden change. I have absolutely no idea where all this came from or what it’s about, though. I’m just completely stumped.
