Project interrupted
Today was the day that the young fellow, whom M and I hired to power wash, reseal, and paint the front porch, was to start work. He already works a couple of jobs, and does this sort of work in whatever spare time he can find. We both know him and we know he is meticulous in his work. It was raining out this morning, so his regular painting work was interrupted. He dashed over here to take advantage of the covered porch during the rain.
Unfortunately, I had the air conditioner on in the house and, at some point, one of his power tools tripped the circuit breaker. I didn’t realize the outlet on the front porch was on the same circuit as the air conditioner or I’d have turned it off. Well, nuts. I wasn’t around to flip the circuit breaker back on and there wasn’t a thing he could do about it. He had to pack up his stuff and leave with half my porch power washed. I’ll just bet he wasn’t happy about that. And I’m not either. Wretched circuits. Whoever built this house did a crummy job of setting them up. Who’d have thought the upstairs back bedroom would be on the same circuit as the front porch?!
Maybe tomorrow, I hope. The power washing that he managed to do makes a tremendous difference. The cedar floor and railings look brand new. I’m so pleased that we hired him. It’s much more enjoyable when someone else does the work, especially when they have the right tools to do it.
