Yes, I agree. Someplace warm, but not too warm, no humidity, and no damned ragweed. Plenty of umbrella decorated beverages and someone to wait on *me* hand and foot for a week or two. Yes, I could dig it. J came over this afternoon and her eyes started watering just from looking at me. I’m a mess.
I had to think about ordering wood for the woodstove today. Sigh. And a chimney sweep.
Winter=8 months. Summer=2 months. Spring=2 weeks. Autumn=6 weeks. Explain to me why people romanticize this place!
Enjoy Date Night!!
Yes, Celtic or Shakespearean or meteorological autumn starts August 5. We are halfway between the summer solstice and the autumnal equinox.
You felt the season change, even when our modern calendars don’t acknowledge it.
How interesting, Margaret. Yes, I felt the season change and I usually do have that feeling in August. Similarly, summer starts earlier for me than the calender summer. Maybe it’s the growing or decreasing light or simply the plant cycles. Probably both. In fact, I’ve always felt that the summer solstice isn’t the beginning of summer, but, really, the beginning of the slide into winter. Summer is almost half over by the time the summer solstice arrives.

yes, and I had to have the headlights on the other night at ten to 8, which, when I realized it, made me unhappy. Why (I am in my Nancy Kerrigan mode now. whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy) can’t summer last as long as winter and winter be two months. Just tell me why!! Kate, it seems hardly fair that you are now going to suffer with allergies when you are still struggling with a summer cold. I think you need a nice vacation, somewhere warm and dry, with no interruptions, no responsibilities!! Don’t you agree??
OK, enough of my nonsense, it’s “date night” and I am not even ready yet. LOL
