Chloe! Where have you been? I’m so glad to see you!
Why do people hate trees? I dunno. First thing that gets removed in a new housing development. Often the streets are named after the trees that were chopped down. And then people spend the next dozen years replanting what never should have been removed in the first place. I just don’t get it.
I was hibernating. Thanks for noticing my absence. ;)
That sure is ironic about them naming the streets after the trees that were chopped down, and then the new residents spending the rest of their residency there replanting.
Sometimes I think it’s like 90% of the population that’s determined to destroy our home. (By ‘home’, I mean the planet.)

I have long noticed the general population’s disconnect where the benefits of trees are concerned.
Many seem to be oblivious to the shade factor… and the oxygen factor as well!
So many people love to cut them down!
Some neighbors near my family’s cottage seem to love to cut them down… Made comments when my sister planted more trees… And then they come over to our yard to sit in the shade!!!!
The last apartment I lived in… When new owners bought the building, the first thing they did, even though there was MUCH ELSE they NEEDED to do… was to start cutting down trees in the yard!
And now I found out that in order to not have “littering seeds” in cities, some years ago, planners started planting ONLY MALE trees, that produce pollen instead… And that’s why so many people now suffer from allergies in cities… I know myself, my allergies are FAR worse in the city than the country. And that’s because there’s diversity of gender in the trees in the country.
Anyway, my sisters researched the fastest growing trees… And this might only apply to our area (northeastern pennsylvania)... but supposedly River Birch trees are fairly fast growing. And you can look at my photo album - I have a section for them, and they have indeed grown quite a bit in just a few years. However, they’re not a very thick type of tree.
There’s also some kind of bush that if you plant them close togehter, they grow fast, tall, and thick, and are good for providing shade. But I don’t know the name of them.
Anyway, I really do live in fear that people will just keep cutting down the trees until everything’s cement, and nobody can even breathe - and they still won’t put 2 & 2 together…
And it’ll be like Soylent Green. :(
