Two 500 pound bombs on top of his house? Yeah, I found it passing strange. Unless he bought it from percussive injuries. Seems to me he’d have been of more use alive than a martyred piece of art. Nobody tried to sneak in and capture him?
This updated account is a bit different from the one we heard initially. Evidently he had tried to escape. And he was alive when found.
This reinstituted habit of cleaning up war trophies and publicly displaying framed photographs of them is just ghoulish (not to mention a violation of those quaint Geneva conventions). We (the collective ‘we’) used to do that in the old west with gunslingers and bandits and other trophy killings. I thought the habit had died a merciful death a hundred years ago. It should have stayed dead.
The conflict is just being perpetuated by all of this.
I’m always waiting for some intelligent party to step in and try to mediate in some way, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen until we’ve trashed the entire planet.
Of course, when all is said and done, maybe some alien race will be able to confirm the validity of the following. ;)
One is the loneliest number.... ;)
As long as there is lots of money to be made from war, there will be war. And mediation is for liberal appeasers. You knew that, right?
Yes, I did. And of course you are right. Money makes the war go ‘round, and all of that. Depressing.
BTW, I call all my drinks appeasers.
;)
Well, technically, I think China is paying for this war. And Japan and whoever else is lending us money by the truckload.
I’ll have a dry appeaser, please. With the cute little pearl onion.
When the Hussein brothers were killed there were photos distributed to the Iraqi population in order to prove it had been done. It reminded me of the Younger Brothers at Coffeyville, so I posted a similar photo.
I do think Arab populations in general are used to mistrusting their (government-controlled) media, so photos serve a purpose. They’re gruesome, though.
How much of this is for Iraqi consumption and how much for ours? The frame on that picture just kills me. There’s as much of a message in that as in the picture.

do you not find it odd that with all those tons of explosives they reported and yet he looks relatively unscathed?? Call me cynical (oh wait, I used to call myself that...), but I am not buying into this story. Something is hinky........ When do you think they will trot out Bin Laden? November, perhaps? I believe NOTHING anymore!!
Oh my bad, huh??
