Cider Press Hill

Raiiiiiiiin. Bleh.

I’m tempted to wail—“Oh God, it’s raining again. Whhhyyyy?” We are such rain magnets this year. Doesn’t anyone else need some??

The rain is interfering with:

1) applying second coat of sealer to the deck.
2) painting the fence which never dries out.
3) painting the front porch which never dries out.
4) yard work and gardening!!!
5) enjoying summer. It’s hard to enjoy summer when it’s perpetually rainy and the temps struggle to climb out of the lower to mid-50s.

On the other hand, there is a silver lining:

1) it’s not as if I actually love painting on deck sealer.
2) it’s not as if I actually love fence painting.
3) it’s not as if I actually live for painting the front porch.
4) there is no silver lining in this one.
5) on the rare occasion when it isn’t raining and I can go outside, there is an absolute—I mean *total*—absence of mosquitoes. They’ve either drowned or it’s still too cold for them to hatch. This is a REAL silver lining.

Okay, that last one might just make it all worth while. I’m not sure yet. This weather *is* wretched. But still..."no mosquitoes,” she says with wonder in her voice.
