Obviously it’s the done thing to have an outdoor graduation ceremony there, but would anyone really get huffy if an indoor venue were available as a backup plan? Bit late now, I know, but just a thought. Ours here are always indoors, regardless of weather conditions.
Anyway, I hope that the weather improves for the ceremony this afternoon. It wouldn’t do to have Mom freezing in her little black dress or the lad dripping in cap and gown! But regardless of the weather, it’s a very special time for all concerned and I’m sure that it will take more than a bit of rain to ruin the occasion.
Astonishing how quickly they grow up, isn’t it?!
Actually, a very neutral Block Island cap. No one could get upset about that.
I just dropped the lad off and it started pouring. Half way back home it stopped and the sun seems as if it would like to poke through the clouds.
I’m about to leave for better or worse. I hope I don’t cry. I have the camera and ticket and raincoat. And an umbrella. That should do it.
Eleanor, you’d think an indoor ceremony would be preferable. I don’t know why it isn’t. *I’d* rather have it inside. But I guess this is tradition and we must hold to it.
Well, wish us all luck. I can’t really believe today is here already. He was just in first grade!
Hey, if it rains and you cry a little, who’s to notice?
Enjoy it all.
