Miserable rotten weather

I suspect, at this moment, the school administrators are beginning to tear their hair out wondering if the rain will stop before tomorrow’s graduation. As time goes on, the estimated time of stoppage keeps being pushed back a few hours. Now the weather people say the rain *may* stop by sometime tomorrow morning with the possibility of showers in the afternoon. But yesterday they said the rain was supposed to altogether stop tonight. This storm seems to have stalled out and it’s just hovering, dropping large amounts of rain again. More flood warnings and all that fun stuff.

It was announced that there will be a graduation rain date if tomorrow is rainy. No one would tolerate sitting through rain and teeth chattering cold like this. Monday is the rain date. But calling it may be last minute, which has its own set of problems. There are lots of grandmas and grandpas and other out of town guests in town waiting and wondering. If one needs to change one’s airplane ticket (the lad’s grandma, for example) one probably needs to do it relatively soon and, preferably, sooner than a couple of hours before one’s flight is supposed to take off.

But that’s the way it works here where the weather can and often does turn on a dime. So we’ll wait and look up at the sky with worried expressions, while the kids go off and attend their parties this afternoon and this evening. They’ll leave the worrying to us. Seems about right, I guess.
