Sunrise, too!
The sun has come up and there is not a cloud in the sky. It’s a sight so stupendously beautiful that I can’t stop running to the window every few minutes to look. I’ll need my sunglasses this morning! Wheeeee!
Terry has eaten her breakfast and gone outside. She has been resigned to copious amounts of water and a soaked coat, so when she seemed less than eager to go outside, I had to open the door and go out myself. She was awfully curious about what I could possibly be doing out there without her. Naturally, she had to stick her head out the door and then realized—HEY! IT’S NOT RAINING! She bolted right out and off the deck and just raced around the back yard with her ears flying. Now the trick will be getting her back in the house. She has birds to watch and a property to protect from squirrels.
The birds have grown accustomed to her and while she sleeps on the deck, they perch on the railing and all over the feeders without paying the least attention to her. Even when she lifts her head to watch them, they still ignore her. The only time they scatter is when she stands up, but they don’t go far.
For some reason it has never occurred to Terry to chase a bird. Anything else that moves is fair game. The squirrels are wary of her. They have their route into the yard carefully planned out. They tippy-toe across the top of the fence, from picket to picket. All the way around the yard until they get where they’re going. If Terry isn’t outside, they’ll come up on the deck to eat. If she’s outside, they keep right on going. Her squirrel catching prowess has filtered down the squirrel grapevine and they do not tempt fate. They’ll have their opportunity to dine at the feeder later after I’ve filled it and Terry comes inside to nap.
For the moment, the world is a bright and beautiful place. We won’t think about clouds. Not this morning.
