To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining, in the days of our children, the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed. ~Theodore Roosevelt

Now that spring is here and the days are warm and humid again, odors are amplified. I walked into the house, this evening, after being away for a few hours and dog odor hit me in the face like a brick bat. Well, I know it’s not Terry’s bedding—that’s brand new. It’s Terry. She needs a bath. I bent over and gave her big hug, inhaling deeply. Yeesh, she really does smell. She’s not going to be a very happy girl when she finds out what I have in mind. She is the only dog I’ve ever known who hates baths. It’s enough to break my heart, seeing how thoroughly defeated she looks as she stands in the middle of the tub with water running off her. But afterwards, she’s so happy that she gallops around the house acting very silly. I think she likes the feeling of being all fresh and clean. She just doesn’t like the process of getting there. That’s a project for tomorrow.
