Amazing

Well, our blizzard was kind of a flop. I think we ended up with something like a foot of snow. It’s bare in some spots and three feet high in others, but in the main, I would say a solid foot of snow. It wasn’t one of our bigger storms of the past decade, that’s for sure. Kind of disappointing after all that hype. They kept promising two feet!! Nevertheless, school has already been canceled for tomorrow, so there are A LOT of happy kids in this town tonight. It wasn’t more than two hours ago, when the snow stopped, that we agreed we wouldn’t even take bets that school would be canceled. The plows have been out and the roads seem to be in pretty decent shape. Enough so that a couple of the lad’s friends came over to pick him up for a movie over at someone’s house tonight.

Before he left I told him he had to shovel the driveway. His friends arrived and I said they could wait or come back. I went to get my jacket and Bean boots on so I could help. I swear it wasn’t more than 6 minutes, tops, before I opened the front door and found a completely shoveled driveway and everyone gone. Man, I didn’t think it was humanly possible to move that much snow that quickly. Even the huge deposits from the snow plow.

He called a short time later and said everyone in the car rolled out to shovel. Not only was the driveway cleared down to the blacktop, the sidewalk was shoveled as well as the front porch and steps.  A car full of motivated kids can pretty much move mountains when they want to. I love ‘em.

They’re in high spirits tonight. Much hooting and hollering going on in the background of that phone call. L’s Mom was making pizza and snacks. Lots of celebrating over the NO SCHOOL announcement. It’s great to be a kid.
