Cider Press Hill

Stoopid politicians

First of all, let me say that I am annoyed with and disappointed by the Democrats who broke with their party, and betrayed us, yesterday in the cloture vote. There is no excuse and we certainly don’t see that kind of behavior from the Republicans. They stick together through thick and thin. We have some Democrats to replace this year with people who are proud of being Democrats, who have the courage of their convictions, and who remember they are representing the folks who voted for them, not the other guys. First on my list would be Joe Lieberman and the second would be Maria Cantwell.

And now we have to endure Geedubya rambling on in his SOTU address tonight. Like fingernails down a chalkboard. I’ll probably avoid it for fear of throwing something through the television screen. Better to read it afterwards, I suspect.  He plans to talk about his successes this past year? Which ones? His Social Security disaster? His new Medicare plan D disaster? New Orleans? Iraq? I mean, that’s just going so well. Or maybe the new budget that is so pork laden that even Reagan must be blushing. Possibly he thinks the mushrooming deficit is a success? Or the economy’s lousy finish in the last quarter of 2005? Surely he must be pleased to know that house foreclosures are at their highest level since 1991, with no signs of stopping. Inflation is way up. And how about those gas/oil prices compared to the obscene profits of the oil companies? Oh, and we shouldn’t forget to mention how proud he must be, as the CEO president, of his scandal-ridden administration, indictments, and on-going investigations that seem to be sprouting out in all directions. What a successful year. Things are going so swimmingly well, Mr. President. What exactly is there to crow about?

I’m a little irritable today. Apparently.
