Our little noisemakers seem to be less intense. The Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer) is a welcome sweet sound just after sunset. Cheerful and just a part of spring and summer evenings. I’ve heard them all my life, but I have never seen one. They hide extremely well during the day.

Great typo in the Florida story: “secret venom.”
I imagine some viewers of that report immediately thought of Poe’s The Black Cat.
If that’s a coqui frog, when there are lots of them they make incredible amounts of racket. We’re in the midst of trying to eradicate them with biological methods out here.
