Rummy and the Geisha

This photograph from FirstPost made me laugh and laugh. It’s funny. But there’s also something a little endearing about it. Of course, some folks don’t agree. Still, we can see that Rumsfeld was human at least once in his life. Kind of a dork, but demonstrably human. I like this picture. It still makes me laugh.

I believe the the photo caption is incorrect, though. President Ford wasn’t the President for another 8 months or so. Can’t tell if the caption was just poorly worded or someone was flat out wrong.

Yup, they goofed. So, did I. I was thinking he was on Ford’s staff prior to Nixon’s resignation, but he was ambassador to NATO and was recalled to Washington when Ford became President to head up the transition team.

The date on the photo is wrong. Ford and Rumsfeld went to Kyoto in November 1974. David Hume Kennerly has a couple of photos from the trip up on his site. The one of Kissinger is...unKissingerly.
