Now there’s an idea I had not considered. I’ll look into that. Thanks Karan.
lots of work, though, even tho they look gorgeous. I could (I DON’T) dust them down every single day cause when the sun hits them, you see every speck of dust!! At least when I had carpeting, you could ignore it!! And they can be slippery--case in point, my husband just came down and slid off the bottom two steps--didn’t fall, but slid off them and across the floor in the foyer.........hmmm. And he is not the first one to have done it.
Is “banquo” really a word or just random letters??
We took the carpeting off ours, remember? It wasn’t easy to refinish the stairs and use them, remember? I had a attachment for stairs with my vacuum. Small little mini beater brush ,one that worked well too! But still work none the less. I wouldn’t recommend doing it until spring if you are so inclined on doing it! For one that pain in the but carpet and padding is keeping the stairs some what insulated from the basement. I remember when we didn’t have the woodstove going in the basement how cold they were lol. Oh and also how slippery they would be for Terry. And if you put stair pads or a stair runner, which we had, you still have to vacuum it! So I guess I would suggest only doing it if its the LOOK you are going for!
LOL my word is LABOR!
Out of the 10 houses I’ve live in during my life, only two had carpeted stairs. I’ll take the hardwood stairs over carpet any day. So much easier to clean. A quick pass with the dustmop daily is a heck of a lot easier than fighting with the vacuum cleaner.
I’ve never had a laminate floor, but hardwoods never posed a problem to the dogs before. But I could see how laminates could be slippery. That might not be a good thing for steps. I’d probably be the first to go skating down them in my sock feet.
J, you have a good point though. The carepting is a good insulating factor. That is something to think on carefully before I do anything. Just adding it to my list of things I’d like to do.
Banquo was a character in Macbeth. He was a general in the army until Macbeth had him murdered. Then he appeared as a ghost to haunt Macbeth. Supposedly he was to sire a line of kings (the Stuarts). That has been more or less disproved now, but in Shakespeare’s day was probably accepted as fact. I think Macbeth was written during James I’s reign and he provided royal patronage to Shakespeare’s company.

No. It’s all hard work, even with a dustbuster. Those wood floor laminates come with stair kits and are supposed to be easy to install...maybe that will work for you.
