Sorry about the password thingy, Eleanor. It wasn’t password protected for me. I didn’t realize.
You are correct. CNN is desperately trying to recapture ratings and Anderson Cooper is their new star. Dump Aaron and give Anderson two hours instead of one of his own and the shared hour with Aaron Brown. I really liked the two of them together. (And I do like Anderson Cooper.) They drew on each other’s strengths.
That was just a crummy thing to do, though. It even looks like a desperate move.
If CBS had a brain (doubtful) they’d immediately hire Brown to take Schieffer’s place. If ABC had a brain they’d stop their round-robin with Vargas and Woodrum and Gibson and hire Brown (who used to work for ABC, as I recall).
Since I’m not in charge of personnel at either place, they won’t listen to my recommendations, of course.
I was saddened by this turn too...I’m hoping though that it means that Aaron Brown will return to Seattle where we loved him dearly.
He’s national now. You can’t hog him all to your Pacific Northwest selves!!

We disagreed some time ago about his hunk appeal, but I can’t argue with his professional abilities. The story you linked to is password protected, so can you give a brief explanation of why he was let go? Am I right in guessing that Anderson Cooper has become a golden boy after his on the spot hurricane reporting and he has something to do with Aaron’s departure?
I don’t watch CNN much as I prefer our Canadian news channel or BBC World. But if I surfed into Aaron Brown late in the evening, he usually held my attention and put an end to the surfing for awhile.
