Yes, abomination. This thing looks like a hodge-podge. The roof overhangs don’t match. The windows are too small and out of scale. The old house still looks old and the addition looks like an ill-considered afterthought. But IT’S BIG. After they get their first gas bill, I wonder how much of it they’ll close off for the winter....
I drove up past the house today. There is another addition on the front of the house about the same size as the one on the back of the house. That place is monstrous now. And nothing matches. Maybe it’ll improve when the clapboards and finishing touches are put on, but it sure is ugly right now.

This sort of thing has been a big problem in my neighborhood and other neighborhoods in the outer boroughs. People buy these postage stamp sized lots and put up McMansions that spread from one edge of the property to the other. They don’t fit the property and they definitely don’t fit the feel of the neighborhood. They’re abominations.
