But...but...Maine says, right on their welcome-to-the-state sign, “Maine—The Way Life Should Be.” ‘Course, that could include psychos and supernatural phenomena...they just don’t advertise that as a selling point.
Once the lad gets over the initial burst of college freedom, I believe he’ll settle in and make the most of his opportunities. He has three qualities that will hold him in good stead—he’s not shy, but he’s not pushy, and people gravitate toward him. He’s a cool kid.
To each his dagnab own, but from the website HWS seems to be, um, relentlessly rural.
Finger Lakes region of New York state. Geneva is a lovely small town. But 15 minutes out in any direction lands you squarely in the middle of a corn field...or a vineyard...or the lake. Still it’s a culturally/history rich and vibrant area.
I lived in the Finger Lakes region for most of my growing up and adult years. The best place on earth, if you want my not so humble opinion.

Geez. I don’t know. I’ve read a few Stephen King novels, and I wouldn’t send any child of mine to Maine. Too spooky.
I’m sure each college has it focus and strengths, but in my humble opinion, the drive of the student is what makes the difference. He will craft his own program and influences if he has the right spirit and drive (and it sounds like it does). I like the sound of this young man more and more.
