Well, you know, I got to thinking about this a little more and now I want them installed yesterday. My current windows are paned, with real wooden muntins between each pane of glass. I have to clean 12 separate panes of glass for each window. And painting the muntins is a bear. The replacement windows have the pretend muntins between the triple glazed glass. They look very nice from the street, though. Yeah, I’m warming up to this idea pretty quickly.
...and the first time you wash them you will wonder why you waited so long!!
I also have some expectation that the natural gas bill might benefit a little, too. At least I hope so considering the price of natural gas this year. I’ve been thinking I should also buy a cord or two of wood, but at current prices, I’m not altogether sure that it’s that much less expensive than heating with gas anymore. And the gas furnace is a heck of a lot cleaner and a lot less work. (I’ve developed a healthy loathing for dragging wood in the house, leaving a trail of wood crumbs behind me.) The real advantages to burning wood seem to be fewer to no colds in the winter and always being toasty warm, knowing that the warmer temps aren’t costing me any extra.
I guess it’s almost winter again. Yeeha! (Not!)

Oh boy, do I know how that goes.....even though our house is not attached to anyone else’s, things always seem to snowball. Usually, we are the ones who do things first and others follow but this summer, next door had their driveway ripped up and replaced, the contractors came to our door and offered us a pretty decent deal so............(and that was on the list of things to do SOMEDAY, not this year.) However, we did do windows several years ago and best investment we have made, cleaning them is fantastic. Super “wicked” easy!!
