I thought it was appropriate and all for a good cause. I like him. He’d make a good logo for the cause.

Where are the intelligent people in this country and why do they have no voice? Why is stupidity so damned attractive?

The Dharma Bums are bummed too. This is really depressing, but it shows how low a man will stoop to curry the favor of a powerful electorate. Never mind that his actions will have terrible consequences for decades. I’m depressed.

Have you looked at Pharyngula’s post lately?  The number of blogs posting and linking about this is bordering on humongous.

Pablo, I understand depressed. But you know, this morning I was simply enraged. Ferget depressed. I was wild with rage. Wanted to smash things. Something broke and I don’t intend to be PC about it or diplomatic. This is rank stupidity and I’m sick to death of it. They can keep their creation myths out of public schools. They can keep their creation myths in Sunday School where they belong.  The President is as entitled as any of us to whatever faith he chooses, but keep it out of the public schools. FAITH is not SCIENCE.

Alas, this is far more than mere stupidity. This is creeping Fundamentalism that truly does have an agenda to transform our society into a theocracy. This is not just poorly educated people looking for easy answers. These are clever, motivated people with a plan and a process. (Here in Kansas City they are also making probes into the public library system, seeing if that arena is ripe for assault.) The rank and file are ill-informed stooges, but behind them are scheming minds with long-term plans. I guess the fact that there is so much resistance to the manifestations of their agenda is some sign of encouragement.

Well Good Morning, Pablo. You’re out and about bright and early.

I guess maybe varying degrees of stupidity when I think about the President’s utterances. I’m still doubtful about his ability to think himself out of a box. Long range thinking isn’t his forte nor his concern, apparently. More ignorance on the part of the poorly educated, easily swayed, and easily frightened. And I don’t discount genuine belief on the part of some, who still can’t see the long range consequences of enforcing their religious beliefs on everyone else. But you’re right. It’s pure cunning and craft on the part of Dobson and his cronies who have a corrupted everything good about the religion they profess to be practicing. Power and greed are their game, I think. They’ll appeal to humanity’s basest instincts to push their agenda. Doesn’t mean they don’t have a lock on stupidity, though.

It’ll take time and *a lot* of effort to stop the theocrats, but I think it will happen.

After what happened in Ohio last night, I am more hopeful than I have been in a while. That election was very close in the reddest of red portions of a very conservative state. Still too early to say if it’s the beginning of a real trend, but it looks like a distinct possibility.

I absolutely agree but there is going to have to be a lot more PUBLIC resistance before people sit up and really start to take notice.  This is so widespread and so behind the scenes (up until now) and so inspid that we are all going to wake up one day and find they have won unless we really begin to get vocal and show our strength in numbers.  I am getting so fed up with what is going on in this country I am becoming even more inarticulate than usual.  Grrrrr
