You know, I’d have taken a goat off someone’s hands this afternoon. NO problem.
The story just got better and better. After the lad came home, he tried to start the thing and it just wouldn’t. So...I figured since I’d had about a whole half hour of use out of it since buying it on Saturday, it was probably still under warranty. I took it back. They couldn’t start it either. And I didn’t have my receipt. Couldn’t find it.
Eons later, they dug up a copy at the store. I could exchange the weed whacker for yet another one. This time I decided to upgrade to a Toro. Grabbed the box, paid the difference and went home.
I tore into the box and pulled out a brushcutter. Not a string weed whacker, but three metal blades. Not exactly what I wanted. That would probably take out the fence as well as medium sized saplings.
At that point I said, “God doesn’t want me to buy a weed whacker at Home Depot.” And I set off for the local True Value store to get one.
When I came home the lad said, “Did you get one?”
“Yep!”
“That’s too bad,” he said, holding up the brushcutter with the weed whacking string attachment dangling from the end. “It’s a twofer,” he said.
Oy. Now I have to take yet another one back to the store.
I don’t think this was my day. Except...the Toro really works well, even if it does weigh a ton. It started the first, second, third, fourth times. I’m not taking the other one back until the Toro starts a fifth and sixth time, though.
... that’s all TOO funny Kate,
... for goodness sake don’t take off a limb with that thing!!
Goats are kinda crotchety, so I’m not sure one would be an improvement. Besides, after My Pet Goat, they’re in bad repute.
I wonder how many teachers, who had that book in their classrooms, have quietly gotten rid of it.
The poor author....
The poor author indeed, although the fate could be worse:
I fixed the link, Linkmeister. My blog settings had the make-a-link feature turned off for some reason.
That’s a friendly poem, isn’t it? Yes, I guess it could be worse.

... Goats are good, and think of all the fertilizer you’d have !?
