Cider Press Hill

Best of both worlds

There was quite a little foot stomping and muttering going on this morning. We did get snow last night. About 5 inches of it. Not enough to seriously impede driving, but enough to coat everything with white. It was a wet sticky snow, so trees and fences and houses have a lovely tracery effect this morning. Several school districts to the immediate north of us were closed. One or two to the south of us. But not us. Oh no. Business as usual. The lad almost curled up in grief. Still, he had to admit that the landscape looked like a fantasy world and, by the time we got to school, he was in a pretty good mood, despite his efforts to resist. The sun shone, the sky was blue, and he couldn’t help feeling cheerful about it all.

This is the kind of snow storm I like. Just enough snow to make the world feel magical. But not enough snow to require much shoveling. This kind of snow I can happily live with. It is so beautiful out there this morning.
