Well, yes. Four. I’ve been counting on my fingers here, on and off today, the hours in a day and how many of them that he is usually around. It leads me to think that he wasn’t getting much work done. What’s worse, they apparently all worked at the same place and one or two got wise and well, there is no fury like a woman scorned or something like that.
Yeesh. It is just too creepy.
I am speechless lol! Four? And all in the same work place? Stupid, stupid man.
I certainly agree that he was not thinking things through very carefully. It’s a weird situation...these two have been very good to me and have been good neighbors. Even while their world has been falling apart. And yet, in an effort to keep a good face on things, they’ve given me a pretty good load of misinformation about their landlord—who is scatterbrained on a good day, but not a bad actor in this play. I can understand their very human response. And yet I feel a little like a well-tuned violin. It is a weird situation, indeed.
Sounds like someone with some psychological issues. Well, all parties really.
But truth is really stranger than fiction sometimes. Thus the popularity of reality tv shows.
Quite frankly I’m not really surprised, considering I just heard some “gossip” from someone… This youngish man (who has quite a reputation for soap opera romantic relationships)... His new girlfriend dumped him because he cheated on her, supposedly because she was reluctant to sleep with him right away… and the person he cheated with… was a divorced older woman with children, that he met & slept with when he was sent into her home by his employer to do some kind of work in her house, and somehow the woman’s ex-husband found out, and word got out, and around.
Upon hearing about this kind of thing, I have a friend who always says “Some people live in Melrose Place.”
I mean, what’s the chances of that kind of thing happening, and then even more, it getting around?
But you know I watched the movie “Little Black Book” a few days ago. And for those who don’t know, it involves a Jenny Jones type talk show in the story. Anyway, I kept thinking during the movie how truly typical the boyfriend was, and his ex-girlfriends… or at least all their behaviour & dishonesty. I hear about that kind of thing all the time, just not always all at once all in the same people.
Actually, that might be why I found the film to be less than good. It was perhaps TOO realistic for a comedy, from my perspective.
I should re-post the list of actual quotes from men I’ve dated & whom have hit on me. Things they actually said (admitted), in the course of TRYING to ‘woo’ me, or on ‘dates’.
They include such gems as,
"My girlfriend argued with me all the time. So I cheated on her.”,
“I don’t care, I’ll get with just about any woman.”,
“She IS just a friend. I’ve never had sex with her. We just fool around sometimes."
In other words, I’m thoroughly convinced that many people are not only socially messed up, but also very stupid about it as well.
When I said “all parties”, I meant, you know, the man who cheated with his co-workers, the co-workers, and the wife. It sounds like they all acted pretty rashly and irrationally.
I wasn’t referring to you!
I realized after I looked at my comment, and realized that you might think I was including you because you seem to believe you were “guillible” or something because these people lied to you or whatever.
On that score, if those people were dishonest, that says more about them than anyone they lied to.
Now, if you were to continue believing everything they say, even after getting the mother lode of goods on them… then you might be able to justifiably call yourself ‘gullible’.
Not to worry, Chloe. I read you right the first time. I assume there is a problem when a guy requires 5 different women, more or less at the same time, one of them being his wife. At least I can get why she went off on a tear with her shovel. Jeez, he’s lucky she didn’t do worse.
The older I get the more I realize that fiction can’t best real life in the competition for most bizarre.
I think it’s the house. It has quite a history lol!
That surely does seem to be the case. I’m afraid to think what will happen to the next people who move in.
Well, I was a little surprised the wife went after ONE of the other women with the shovel. ??
Why not her husband, clearly it was not the fault of ONE woman if he was shtoopin’ around with FOUR. haha.
And why embarrass herself thus?
Hmmm… maybe that’s another reason I didn’t really get “Little Black Book”... I really don’t understand the concept of “fighting for one’s man”.
The 2 times I felt I was “in competition” with other women for a man, I felt stupid & awkward… I avoid those situations, and extricate myself from them a.s.a.p.
But you know, he must’ve known she was volotile. (People usually don’t react that way out of the blue.)
Maybe he’s one of those types that gets off on “the danger” of cheating.
I’m not sure I believe in cursed houses… But you know, at my old apartment building, I heard from 2 different unconnected sources that the apartment next door to me, on the same floor, was rumoured to be haunted, years before I lived there.
And all the tenants who lived there in the time I lived there seemed to have problems… And never lived there more than a few of months.
The first one was a nice, quiet young man, who I got long with well, and liked, but who moved without explanation, leaving all his furniture behind. His mother came to clean it out, said he’d moved to live with his brother… but it seemed rather suspicious frankly.
The 2nd was a drunk who told the landlord he lived alone, but had his significant other and their 4 kids move in (to a 1 bedroom)... and finally got evicted after twice winding up in the driveway with the ambulance coming to get him, and the landlord got evidence that the kids were living there and being left alone.
The 3rd was a woman who fell on ice in the driveway, spent most of the time she lived there in the hospital & at a friend’s house recovering, and then as soon as she was home, was busted by the police for illegally selling prescription drugs. (I had to rescue her cat & feed it, when it was howling because of neglect after she was gone, and nobody knew why right away.)
And the 4th occupant was a very very nice young couple. I couldn’t say enough nice things about them. The man had just signed up with the military, and was set to go off for training the very week Sept. 11th 2001 happened. And then she found out she was pregnant while he was at training. A couple of months later she said she was moving to his base in Virginia I think, and I never heard from her again.
Then another couple moved in, and within 2 months, I found the man CRYING out on the stoop, because she was leaving him.
There were often stretches between tenants where the apartment was empty.
There were occassionally weird things about the other apartments & their tenants, but this apartment did seem to be cursed!
It’s possible she may have intended to go after more. Or maybe she only knew who the one woman was. Don’t know. She was...apprehended, I think is the operative term, before she could pursue the mission. But not until she’d tried to take her husband’s head off. I don’t know how I missed that. It turns out that I’m about the only one in the neighborhood who didn’t see it...or hear it.
That’s quite a history the old apartment next to you had. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? The house next to me...I’m not sure you’d call it a curse exactly (until now, maybe)...but past residents have had a history of turning up unexpectedly pregnant within a few weeks of moving in. Very unexpectedly and not according to plan. One after the other. I hope it’s not deciding to branch out into new territory. ;)

Four? Four??
I thought this only happened in lurid fiction, or network TV.
