... and here I am thinking about buying a faux fireplace, just so I can admire the thing ... *giggle* ... well a girl can dream
My parents had one of those, Lynn. It was great. I especially enjoyed it when they decided to have a fire in the fireplace and just flicked a switch. As time went on, however, my Mom decided she didn’t like the effect, so she yanked out the faux wood and filled the space with candles at various heights. It was really quite pretty.
My father-in-law always says that wood heats you up twice...once to stack it, once to burn it.
Your father-in-law has obviously stacked a lot of wood. Stacking wood is about the best way I know of to work up a lather out in 20 degree weather. Shoveling snow runs a close second.
It just so happens that I’ve engaged in both activities within the last 48 hours. Winter is giving me a workout this year.

Huh. I just noticed that the gate is about 4 inches higher than the new fencing. Well, just great. I can add that to my list of things to fix this spring. It sure does look odd to have a painted gate and a bright new unpainted fence.
