Yeah, come to think of it...this is a yearly refrain. The only thing that changes is that their cars keep getting bigger.
Henceforth, type the little word in the box before you hit preview. I suppose I should say that. I did originally. But I’m pretty sure that I went to preview a few times and then posted without having to. Maybe not.
Anyway. Just type the little word before you do anything else. And then copy your comment, just in case. As long as all your bases are covered, nothing amiss will ever happen. It’s only when you don’t that glitches happen. That’s a law of physics, right?
Hmmmm, you could check if your town has an overnight “winter” parking ban--most do and then suggest perhaps someone should patrol your street. Perhaps after they get a ticket or two for overnight parking, they just might consider leaving their monster trucks in their driveways day and night!
We have such a ban here and when it goes into effect sometime early in December, they show no mercy. About 3 weeks ago there must have been a half dozen cars parked outside houses on the street instead of in driveways--even though there had been no storm, no snow, they all found tickets on their windshields the next morning...even someone staying overnight at my house got one.......cleaned up the street pretty damn quick though.......
Unfortunately, on-street parking is permitted at all times except snow emergencies.
Since this town is old, old, old—driveways within the village limits are extremely rare. When most houses were built, there were no cars and most people didn’t own their own horse and buggy, either. So houses were built close together on postage stamp sized lots. People have to park on the street....except for those folks who have newer homes and larger lots outside of the village...or the people who live in the sea captains’ homes that come with huge lots and driveways.
Trying to establish, let alone enforce, a winter parking ban around here would be met with pitchforks and buckets of tar.
Not that I’m opposed to the idea for people who *do* have driveways and refuse to use them!

Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.
(it looks funny without the diacritical marks, but I’m too lazy to look them up ... and there are several of them in that phrase)
PS. After previewing, I couldn’t post the comment because it didn’t take me back to a page that displays the anti-spam fill-in box.
