Digital cameras

Being without a digital camera has begun to feel like living without my right arm. I don’t know what happened to my lovely little Nikon, but it won’t stay on. I turn it on, it fires up, then switches off. I’ve taken it into the shop to see what they thought. What they thought was...too bad the warranty expired. It would cost more than half as much as a new camera (the prices have come *way* down) to have it repaired. There’s a short in it someplace. It doesn’t make good economic sense to invest in the repairs. So, I’ve been without a digital camera for a few months now. Every time I think I’m ready to go get a new one, something else pops up. Like new fences or furnace repairs or...something. It would be nice if I could tuck some money away without the fates watching for their opportunity to spend it all for me.

What I’d really like is an SLR digital camera. Well, maybe someday. In the meantime, I’ve been looking at this one. It’s an Olympus Camedia C-765 Ultra Zoom. All professional reviews and consumer evaluations have been pretty positive. Lots of camera for the price.

By the time I get around to actually doing something about this, maybe the SLRs will have dropped another couple hundred in price. Never know.

Meanwhile the lad thinks I should have a little digital pen camera to get me through until I take the plunge. I do believe he’s been covertly investigating that idea. I have to admit that anything that captures a digital image looks pretty darned attractive right now. A pen camera could be a lot of fun.
