I sympathize with the LL issues, we live in a town home managed by completely cheap morons and a trained monkey could do better than the office staff.
Anyway, a gift certificate sounds like a good way to express your gratitude or like the above comment a home cooked meal is an more personal way to say thanks.
That’s a great idea, Linkmeister. Slaps forehead...never even thought of that.
Danielle, glad to see you! Yes, landlords can be kind of clueless sometimes. It’s all well and good to maintain a house as a rental property *if* the landlord actually takes the time and initiative to maintain it. The luck of the draw this time is that the next door neighbors are handy and have plenty of ambition. Next time? Who knows.
Well, the standard refuge of the cash-poor gift giver (in the not-so-distant past, that would be me) was a GC for some help doing some odious task for someone, whether dropping munchkins off somewhere or picking something up at some downtown location...all it cost was some of my time. ;)
And time is a precious commodity. When someone prepares me a homecooked meal that all I have to do is sit and eat...yeah, that makes my day. You betcha. Besides, when other people cook for me, it always tastes better.

How about a gift certificate for a dinner “in” at your house?
