Koss and Sony seem to be the ones with the most to offer. This is the tedious part. I’m more confused now than when I started. It’ll sort itself out in a while, though.
I’m pretty sure something came through my mailbox from Bose’ on wireless headphones......pricey, but if they are Bose’ then I think you cannot go wrong…
I suspect you are one of the people I owe apologies to for being spammed through my nearly shut down blog. I deleted well over 1,000 emailed comments over the weekend and as documented on my site, have been in a total state of frustration…
Ooh! Bose. There’s an outlet store just over the Maine border—Kittery—not more than a half hour from here. I got my Bose speakers there and have loved them. Perhaps I should pay a visit. And stop at Yankee Candle right next door...and ooh...the Kittery Trading Post. So much for the internet. Probably ought to stop at Best Buy on the way back to pick up a couple of video games for the lad, too.
So much for internet shopping. Thanks, Cyn.
Yeah, I got a lot of notices from your blog, too. No need to apologize, though. It’s certainly not your doing. I just filtered ‘em into their own little compartment.
Spammers are the parasites who are going to end up killing their hosts. When people get fed up with the time involved in deleting the spam or with being forced to close commenting, it takes the fun out of blogging. Bloggers have been quitting.
I’ve been thinking of what steps you could take, Cyn. It might be worth your while to change the name of your comments page to comments_whatever.php and make the corresponding changes in your templates and control panel. It would deflect the spammers for a while anyway. Rinse and repeat as necessary. I think that would work. It’s a pain in the rear, but less so than deleting a thousand spams.
Or upgrade to Expression Engine.
You just made me home sick again. I just actually sat here for a few minutes and wondered what it would be like to live back there again. If it didn’t get so cold.......
hey how does that thing below work?
Well you just had to move away in the first place, didn’t ya? And it’s not that cold.
Re the word image? Um...magic? I don’t really know. The database creates an image that disappears again as soon as you’re done with it. Sounds like magic to me. ;)
BTW, you don’t need to type in the word before hitting Preview. Only before you hit Submit if you choose not to preview. Nice way of either forcing a preview or putting that extra step between spammers and spam...that they haven’t figured out how to bypass. Yet.
Thanks for the advice Kate--perhaps after the holidays and after I get back from LA, I will ask you for some advice. Until then, I really don’t have a lot of extra time and you surely know how dense I am with this stuff!!
I was just at Brookstone and they had a few different (some pricey) kinds of wireless headphones, too. Good Luck!!
If you haven’t gotten them already, make sure you don’t get infrared ones. They don’t work through walls. Also, you might want to get ones that are somehow rechargeable.
If you want them to be used with the TV, then be sure to have a look at the output on your TV and the plug on the base of the headphones. The socket on my tv wasn’t flush with the tv and one headphone plug I had at some time had a right angle in it so I couldn’t get the plug into the socket.
The ones I had were both infrared and ate batteries at an amazing speed.
Ah, thanks Steph. I didn’t realize the infrared distinction. That wouldn’t be a good option for the lad who likes to wander while he’s listening.
I’ll remember to ask about adapter plugs, too. The television has a socket on the front that probably would require an adapter anyway.
Definitely a recharger base unit. One effect of price appears to be how long the headphones will maintain a charge. Since I don’t plan to support the battery industry all by myself, a recharger is essential.
Those are good things to know. Thank you.

A quick Amazon glance shows the usual electronics mfrs as suspects. Acoustic Research, Pioneer, Sony...I imagine the product by any of the big companies would be reasonably good. I didn’t see Harmon-Kardon or Koss, but that doesn’t mean they’re not there.
