I had an idea you’d like it. It’ll take a pleasurably long time to go through all the speeches. Very nice resource.

To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining, in the days of our children, the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed. ~Theodore Roosevelt

Oooh! Via Deus62.com, I’ve discovered an absolutely stunning archive of American Rhetoric, the Top 100 Speeches by the likes of such individuals as Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, JFK, FDR, Barbara Jordan, Woodrow Wilson, Douglas MacArthur, Clarence Darrow, Eugene Debs, Ike, Eleanor Roosevelt, Emma Goldman, Mary Church Terrell, William Jennings Bryan, Stokely Carmichael, Margaret Sanger, Cesar Chavez, Huey P Long, Ursula Le Guin, Shirley Chisolm, Elie Wiesel, and Harry S Truman—just to name a few. Text copies available of all speeches (except Woodrow Wilson’s For the League of Nations speech) and, in many cases, an audio file of the entire speech or a long excerpt. Many of the people of vision who made our history, y’know? Go read and listen.

Alas, the technology wasn’t there for Bryan’s Cross of Gold speech. Great find!
