Old Navy
So I took the lad over to the Old Navy store in Portsmouth this afternoon. He needed a couple pairs of pants and a some sweaters. In the interest of keeping the end total somewhere in the realm of reasonable, I asked him to choose carefully and only get what he really, really needed. And he was cool with that.
We noticed that the store was absolutely mobbed and there were signs of discounts all over the place, but it went right over my head. We were in a hurry since the lad had to get back to set up and do sound for a play tonight.
When we reached the check-out, I mentally calculated what everything cost and it made me wince. But whatever. The lad needed clothes. And I needed a winter jacket. When it was our turn at the checkout., the clerk ran everything through the scanner and the prices seemed low. The final tally came to $123.00 which I thought was exceedingly low for two pairs of cargo pants, two heavy sweaters, a sweatshirt, a fleece vest, and a reversible down jacket. Still wasn’t making any kind of connection, though. When I mentioned that it was less than I expected, the clerk laughed and said maybe we should have gotten more. Everything in the store was half price today.
Well, duh. If she hadn’t said that, I still wouldn’t be the wiser. No wonder the place was mobbed. But we didn’t have any more time to go back to shop for more, so I’ll just be pleased with the way things turned out anyway.
