Don’t we wish. I expect buyers remorse to be around for a while. Too bad for us.
Why stop at three days? I lean more toward the L.L. Bean philosophy.
(Not really, but you get the idea)
Oh too funny N. Thanks for the laugh this morning, I really needed it!
This shot and a few other’s made our local paper this morning ... at first I thought “how brazen”, ... then I laughed so hard, my co-workers stopped by to see what the ruckus was about ...
there’s just no accounting for some peoples’ taste/mindset ... *shrug*
A woman in our gov’t caucus got her knuckles rapped for a comment she made. This election result has the whole world up in arms, .... kinda makes a person wonder, regardless of where they live .... huh?
At the least we can assume it’s going to be an interesting few years across the globe. I notice that Europe was thrilled about the US Dollar’s nosedive on Friday.
Certain parties in this country may think we own the world, but the inevitable wake-up call may be a painful reminder that we don’t. Geez, I can hardly wait for all that pain.
As a member of the “investor class”, I’m seriously thinking that I’ll need to drastically reshape my (growth-oriented) portfolio as a defense against the eventual meltdown caused by out out-of-control debt structure. But in these markets, where does one go to be defensive? Not even federally-backed securities seem really safe.
Before the collapse, however, growth stocks will probably look like the right place to be, so the real question is when to bail out rather than whether to. Are we talking months (probably not), years, decades? After experiencing the tech bubble, I think I’d rather leave too early than too late.
Keep an eye on what Krugman says. I think we’re screwed. Investing in the Euro might be a way to help hedge against total portfolio meltdown. Got any plans to visit Europe in the near term?
Europe? Too expensive! :-S
I had been thinking that I’d have an opportunity to travel to Cuba to see a few ballgames in the spring, but I’m sure that Dubya will continue to tighten the restriction/prohibition. The organizer—based in Vancouver BC—says he won’t take Americans unless he can get the appropriate permits.
I suppose that by simply typing the letters C-U-B-A here in semi-public, I’m potentially committing an offense against some provision of the Patriot Act, but what the hell. Maybe that’ll get me a trip to our little corner of the island instead.

Elections should be like consumer purchases; there ought to be a three-day right of recission.
