Cider Press Hill

This is it!

Best quote of the day: (John Kerry) Mr. President, I am ready—and impatient—to relieve you of that hard work.

I’ve spent the last couple of days calling potential voters, encouraging (politely urging) them to vote. I’ve been surprised at the warm response I received most of the time. Only a couple of people hung up on me. For the rest, they seemed to appreciate the call. Even the Bush supporters. I’m not sure how the phone numbers are distributed exactly, but the Kerry supporters outnumbered the Bush supporters. I found that extremely encouraging.

I’ve also done some door-to-door here in my town. And tomorrow I’ll drive some voters to the polls. I have a two hour shift in the morning. There was no lack of volunteers.

--------------

One thing really warmed my heart tonight. An individual from England left a message over at Atrios/Eschaton that said:

Ok people its 4:00 am here in London Eng. And i cant sleep, i hope all of you guys across the pond are ready....

at dawn you will all change the world, the world is holding its breath, choose wisely and never in fear, stand strong and the world will stand with you.

good luck....

My friend, I can tell you that I have never been so excited about voting in my life. Sleep is elusive here tonight, too.

But it’s a good excitement because, for the first time, I believe that John Kerry will win more decisively than I’d even hoped.

Then, we roll up our sleeves and go to work. This isn’t over. As I’ve observed on a number of bumper stickers recently..."Freedom isn’t free.” That phrase initially irritated me. But I see the wisdom in it now. If we don’t take care of our country, our constitutional government, and fight for it, we will lose it. There is a lot of work still to be done. I will never take for granted again that, because this is America, we can’t be threatened from within.

Be sure to vote tomorrow. As early as possible.
