I just love AAA when it come to these things! You may have to wait 15 minutes. But they take care of everything for you! Oh and it the change of address thing gets in your way you can vote under Provisional voter. Thats what I have to do unless I want to drive 35-40 minutes to my old city. But I think that because you physical address hasn’t changed, you should still be voting in the same place.
Well, I’m back and it was much easier than anticipated. It only took an hour of standing in line to get the car re-registered.
And for some reason, they had my new mailing address already in their system along with my correct home address. I don’t know how, since I don’t *think* I notified them of the change. Mysterious. I had to verify anyway, so I’m glad I took along several forms of ID.
As for voter registration...I re-registered as a Democrat from an Independent not too long ago. The re-registration process involved the distinction between mailing and residence addresses. The affirmation that I received in the mail indicates my home address and my mailing address...in fact, quite specifically makes a point of distinguishing between the two. (Do they notify the Registry of a change of address??)
I plan to go to my polling place with plenty of identification; a couple of bills that are mailed to the mailing address, but reflect my home address, license, voter registration certificate. My polling place hasn’t changed and the people will know me. I don’t really anticipate much challenging to take place around here. In Massachusetts? The hot bed of liberalism? Probably not. But then, you never know. The city clerk’s office said that new voter registration has been huge this year. Like nothing they’ve ever seen before.
I will be interested to hear how it goes in Lawrence. There is a huge hispanic population there and, from what local news has said, new voter registrations have been huge there, too. People are already keeping on eye on the town to watch for signs of fraud and disenfranchisement.
But I still don’t see the point of targeting MA. We are so solidly blue, that it would literally take *hundreds of thousands* of disenfranchised voters to swing the outcome. Efforts would be better spent elsewhere.
Wherever it happens, I’d like to see some folks land in prison for messing with voter rights. Not only is it terrible for us and a blot on our Republic, it’s turning us into the laughing stock of the world.

I hope this doesn’t interfere with your voter registration status. People (almost all of them, not surprisingly, in places and/or with characteristics where the expectation is that they would not vote for GWB) are having their right to vote challenged or denied for less.
Not that your vote is going to affect the outcome in Massachusetts, but the point is much, much larger.
