Civil what?

Oh, you know....when John Dean—former legal counsel to President Nixon—raises the specter of civil war in the aftermath of what he promises will be post-election chaos, it is kind of an attention grabber. Dean isn’t normally given to reckless hyperbole. But, then again, even if John Kerry were to win in an incontestable landslide, I’m not sure that the post-election chaos would be any less catastrophic. Cripes, that put the polish on my day.

I understand, Karan.  I’m not afraid of saying it anymore. I’m afraid of the prospect, but I’m not afraid of saying it. To most people it sounds like crazy talk, but our Republic is about to go down the crapper. Most people think that’s even crazier talk and say, “But this is America!” I can hardly blame them for being incredulous at such a loony sounding suggestion. But denial is a deep, deep river where undercurrents can do their work, unnoticed, for a long, long time. Our Republic is in trouble.
