I’m with cyn on the Kenmore appliances. I’ve had my washer, dryer and stove for 12 years and all are still going strong, despite massive overwork on the part of the washer and dryer. Teenage daughter, you know. My fridge is Kenmore, too, but it’s only a year old and I can’t say too much about its durability yet. However, the one it replaced was also a Kenmore, was in the house when we moved here 12 years ago and looked to be a ‘70s vintage! Vacuums weren’t on your list, but I just replaced a 15-year-old Kenmore with an updated model. 15 years of pretty much daily use - can’t complain about that. And the vacuum itself isn’t dead yet, just the power head.
I haven’t had a Kenmore appliance in many years, but, as I recall, my Kenmore dishwashwer was the best one I’ve ever had. Nothing else has even come close.
My current washer and dryer are by Hotpoint. They’ve held up pretty well, though a couple of years into ownership, the permanent press cycle on both just quit. The cost of repairs for that particular problem would have added up to a brand new washer or dryer. So I’ve lived without the perm-press cycles all these years. I might be missing out on something wonderful. I don’t remember now.
So I don’t think I’d get another Hotpoint.
Kenmore still gets good Consumer Reports ratings. The question is...since I haven’t started looking yet...is whether Kenmore offers front load washers. That’s what I think I want next time around.
Cyn...I’ll look for the Eliminate the next time I’m at Home Depot. Something has to work better than the usual suspects I grab off the supermarket shelves. Even after cleaning, there still always seems to be a light film left. And I want shiny, dammit.
Re coffee pots...I want my coffee to taste like it does when the cashier hands a piping hot cup of it out the Dunkin Donuts drive-up window. I still have not achieved that flavor at home. Either they sell a different coffee than what they use in the store or my coffee machine is crappy.

Ahhhhhh, maybe it is the close proximity of all that grease.............I’ve never achieved it either and so that is the conclusion I have finally reached…

Well at least you had more on your mind than I do this morning!!
1. Dunno--no matter what I have had (Mac/HP/Compaq/Dell) something always gets screwed up--am becoming more paranoid as time goes by thinking it COULD just be me…
2. Farberware seems to last longest. Have a 2 year old Cuisanart Grind and Brew or whatever it is called and have had trouble with it constantly--now it works only if I pound the top with my hand before I turn it on. Read paranoid comment above - fits here, too!!
3. You and I both know I cannot answer that one...if I knew what I was doing I would change design of mine cause it is SO boring, but.......
4. Hate the smell of it, but a product called “Eliminate.” I buy it at Home Depot. Works really well and on tile, as well.
5. Kenmore!! Had my first one for 25 years before I replaced it. Never once had to have it repaired!! Actually only reason I replaced it was because the dryer went (25 years, as well) and figured as long as I was doing one, I should do both!! Have had new one and dryer now for 8(??) years and I think they have been problem free as well.......
