Rummy unplugged

According to the BBC World, Donald Rumsfeld spoke to a think tank yesterday—they didn’t name it, was it AEI?—and he said he had not run into any credible evidence of links between Saddam and al Qaeda. I love Rummy’s unplugged moments. That kind of pokes a hole in Cheney’s contention, one day before the VP debate. So if Rummy doesn’t see any credible evidence of al Qaeda links and there aren’t any WMD, and democracy in Iraq doesn’t look particularly good...what was this war about again? A follow-up sound-bite with some war supporter pointed out that Zarqawi is in Iraq now and he’s linked to al Qaeda (probably a bin Laden rival according to the BBC), so we need to be there. I thought...are these people really that stupid? They justify an unjustifiable war by saying we have to rout the bad guys that have poured into Iraq in the months since we’ve turned it into a shambles? There’s some circular logic for you. And, of course, we have to fight them there so they won’t fight us here because it surely never occurred to them to do both at the same time.

In other news. My Google search string of the week is “white worms crawling on the kitchen ceiling.”
