I checked my Comcast bill today and noticed that nothing on it has changed. I’m still being billed for the original cable package. So, I disconnected my little TV from the DVD player and carried it over to the Comcast cable. Plugged it in and whadya know. I still have a full complement of cable stations.

I called Comcast again to inquire. For some reason, someone had cancelled the disconnect order. Amidst profuse apologies, I ended up with an even more discounted bundle than we had agreed upon a couple of weeks ago. Plus, the changes are retroactive to a week before I had called. Go figure.

In any case, now I have broadband internet for $29.99 and telephone for $24.95...both prices good for a year instead of the formerly agreed upon telephone for $29.99 for 3 months and $44 for the remainder of the year.

They also offered me basic cable (local stations) for $5 per month. I said...hmmm...not really sure if I want it, but can you make a notation that if I decide that I do want it at some point in the next couple of months that I can add it at the same bundle price? Yes, they can do that. Duly noted on my account.

I am never this lucky. I don’t get it. There is obviously a great deal of flexibility built into their pricing structures. However, I’m sure that when the year contract is up, they’ll really try to clobber me with full price increases. Then I can tell them, “Heh, don’t need your phone service either” and see what they do.
