The lad just learned that one of his very closest friends has jury duty tomorrow. She called and said that she’d heard he also had jury duty and wondered where his was. Turns out they have one day jury duty in the same place, part of the same group number and must be there at the same time. What are the chances of that happening?! They’ll get to wait together at the courthouse. So, she’s coming to pick him up in the morning, which lets me off the hook. I’m not sure which of us is happier. He has someone to hang with and I don’t have to drive to Lawrence. Hot dawg!

Meanwhile, he and a friend are in the kitchen, cooking me a fashionably late dinner. Something about stuffed chicken breasts and feta cheese and sun dried tomatoes with a side of stir fried vegetables. It smells pretty good out there.

I don’t think this day could get any better.
