The way it was supposed to work—the lads would take the train into Boston and eventually find their way to their concert tonight.

The way it worked—they missed the train. We arrived at the station just as the train began pulling away.

You know, one bathroom just isn’t enough.

So, off we went to Boston again. During rush hour. Wheee! We had to meet up with the Dad, at North Station, who was bringing something or other to the lad. His identification and proof of age, if I recall correctly.

The trip in was uneventful. Everyone was in a mad dash to leave the city, getting in was no problem. My trip home was another story. Twenty mile an hour traffic for the first 10-15 miles on I-93. Sheesh.

And, because we live at the last outpost on earth (we have that impression), the last train out of Boston to our humble little backwoods town is 11:58 PM. Out of North Station, which is not anywhere near the concert venue. So, looks as if I’ll be making another trek into Boston later tonight to fetch the boys back home.

Because of my very pleasant demeanor (outwardly) when I really wanted to strangle them (inwardly), they have promised to shovel snow all weekend for me. Without a complaint. Good deal!

Between you ‘n me, I’m not that unhappy about it. I’ve noticed, the last two trips, that I really enjoy looking at the Boston skyline. The approach from the north is really quite stunning. Boston is a pretty city. It’s gorgeous at night.

So, they’re hitting The Paradise Rock Club in Boston to see Ratatat. People I didn’t know existed until yesterday. I was invited to listen to some of their music and decided they’re pretty good. Not exactly my everyday style preference, but pretty good nonetheless. There are a few tunes on their web page player. Kinda fun to see what the kids like.

By the end of this week, I’ll be pretty good at doing Boston. Not that I want to make a habit of it.
